@DemocracyMattersALot Democrats are lost in nostalgia. Nostalgia is a mental disease. Sadly and frighteningly, if Dems refuse to act and continue their willful blindness, they have become part of the problem.
@DemocracyMattersALot I think #Democrats are finally #WakingTheFuckUp to what #KarlPopper warned about in #TheParadoxOfTolerance "Unlimited tolerance must lead to the disappearance of tolerance. If we extend unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant, if we are not prepared to defend a tolerant society against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance with them."
@DemocracyMattersALot Biden's action must be brutal and must be quick. It must demonstrate the absurdity of the Partisan SCOTUS Decision. It must shake the nation to its core and wake us up from a Conservative Fever
@DemocracyMattersALot The sad, sad, sad problem is in Biden's statement, "Wisdom to respect the limits of the office of the President...." He and the dems continue to live in the delusional fantasy that the repubs are coequal partners in governing. Willful blindness will gut our nation.
@_9CL7T9k8cjnD_@DemocracyMattersALot It's not a paradox if you understand tolerance as a social contract instead of a doctrine. Tolerance, like respect, must be continually earned. If you breach it, then you surrender it.
In iterations of various strategies for the Prisoner's Dilemma, it was found that statistically, Trust But Betray Once if Betrayed was among the most successful strategies: Cooperation works better as a presumptive contract than as a doctrine. The same is true for tolerance.
