#WordWeavers Day 6: What smell would instantly bring up a good memory for your SC?
The smell of Vietnamese food reminds Hew Morrison of his mother's cooking when he was a boy.

#WordWeavers Day 5: Who is the most influential person in your MCs' lives?
Jessie: At the book's start, probably her older brother George. By the end, it's become a mix between San Francisco itself, and Ángel, her mentor.
Ángel: I think their boyfriend, Jake Mansour. And/or San Francisco.
Margot: While Ángel was once Margot's mentor as they now are Jessie's, Ángel is now influential in Margot's life as her best friend — but takes a back seat to her husband Al and daughters Nora and Evelyn!
#WordWeavers Day 3: An antagonist has to choose something to wear from your wardrobe. What and why?
Travis Winter would pick the nicest of my suits, with no hesitation. He likes suits.
Adrian Hardesty would be interested by my Leif Nelson asymmetrical-collar pullovers. He'd pair one with blue jeans, no problem.
Donna Kuang would throw up her hands and scoff in derision at all of it; the combined style *and* gender differences are insurmountable.
#WordWeavers Day 4: What are [some of] your SCs' relationships with their parents?
Zoë Broadstreet's been 100% No Contact with her parents for over 10 years, and is fine with that.
Hazel Kovalenko looks forward to her fortnightly phone calls with her mother. Though Hazel's in SF and Mom is in Chicago, the two love each other (as did Dad until his death 4 years ago).
Lex Bainbridge talks to his parents back in Philly every few months. They never really understood him, but they stay in touch.
#WordWeavers Day 2: If an MC stayed in your place for a few weeks, what would their favorite room be and why?
My place only has 2 rooms, unless you count the bathroom. Really, their only option would be to hang out in the main kitchen/living room area — which, admittedly, does have a nice view.
Given that it's a view of a city (Brooklyn, mostly) and all my MCs are city shamans, I'm sure they'd enjoy looking at it a lot, even if it's not *their* city (SF). Other cities are interesting, too!
#WordWeavers Day 1: Introduce an MC as if they were a fighter in the ring
All the way from the Richmond District, it's the Pacific Powerhouse! In the red trunks, because nobody could ever get her to wear a different color... Don't let her short stature fool you; she will clean your clock, and lay you out on the mat like nobody's business! Standing 5 foot 1, weighing in at 190 pounds, it's the crimson-clad black widow of the west side... Scarlet! Margot! Chuuuu!
#WordWeavers Day 30: Has your main genre changed with time?
It hasn't had the chance yet! I'm still writing my first book! 😂
#WordWeavers Day 31: Would you ever cosplay one of your characters? Which one?
Ooooh, nifty idea! I'd need a wig, of course. (Hmmm, are *none* of my characters bald? Wild.) But let's see... wearing a suit and dressing up as Travis Winter could be fun. I'm too old to be a convincing David Hartmann anymore, but maybe I could do Lex Bainbridge? That'd be quite amusing.
#WordWeavers Day 29: Did you write stories when you were a kid?
I wrote some back in middle school and high school. None of them have survived, which I'm a little wistful about. I know they were awful, but I'd like to at least have the option of looking at them again.
#WordWeavers Day 28: On a scale of 1-10, how hot are your antagonists? Why?
Adrian Hardesty: a cutie! 9️⃣
Donna Kuang: 4️⃣; she gets by on competence
Derrick Devereaux: 5️⃣ normally, 8️⃣ when in drag 👄
Travis Winter: very well put-together; 8️⃣
Van Martinez: 6️⃣ or 7️⃣ (unless you have a cop fetish and she's in uniform...👮🏻♀️)
#WordWeavers Day 27: Is your MC part of a religion?
Jessie thinks of herself as an atheist, but doesn't hesitate to use Shinto _kami_ as a model for magic and understanding the City.
Carlos is an observant Catholic.
Ángel hates organized religion, but finds some of its symbolism powerful anyway.
David is Jewish, though not very observant.
Margot isn't religious, but lights incense at shrines when appropriate.
#WordWeavers Day 26: Would you ever co-write a book? Why or why not?
I have nothing against the idea. If I and some other writer had an idea that would make a good collaboration, I'd give it a shot.
#WordWeavers Day 25: What’s the least likely ship between characters in your WIP?
I'd say Derrick Devereaux and Hazel Kovalenko. He's a drag queen; she's a married lesbian. (Also, she's pretty "normie", while he's flamboyant in the way you kind of need to be as a drag queen.)
Swapping David Hartmann in for Derrick would keep the incompatible orientations, but David's more subdued and actually will be a friend to Hazel and they'll spend some time together, so it's not quite so "hell no".
