We tell ourselves we vote on policies, but in reality it has almost always been personalities since we could view our politicians on tv screens..

JFK vs. Nixon. The folks listening at home on the radio thought Nixon won the first televised presidential debate, because they liked what they heard. Those watching tv saw a sweaty upper lip and preferred the suave, cool appearance of JFK.

But that handsome young man that went on to become President died in office…and did democracy falter? No. 1/2

When you vote in November, it might well be for a man who won’t see out a presidential term in office. That applies equally to Trump or Biden.

But what we learnt today from SCOTUS is it’s far bigger than a battle of personalities. It is democracy vs. fascism.

Policies and ideology matter more than medical records right now.

So hold your nose, vote #Biden and read up on the incredible period of office that saw LBJ as President….

Democracy in the US did not die with JFK. The hopes and dreams of progress were taken up by his Vice President, LBJ as he immediately started work on his Great Society.

He passed the Civil Rights Act (1964),?the Economic Opportunity Act (1964) the Voting Rights Act (1965) and created Medicare/Medicaid (1965)…and the 25th amendment got passed outlining what happens when a President dies in office 1967).

Democracy survived the backdrop of 60’s political assassinations and war.
