It really fixed the whole "if you're banned or your instance goes down, you lose your account" issue that Fedi has.
Accounts aren't hosted by a single instance. They are "relayed" across which means your account lives across every relay that it interacts with. If one relay bans you, simply remove the relay and keep posting.
It's pretty cool, but there's just not enough people there yet.
Furthermore, there are Fedi bridges that connect directly to Nostr that work pretty well!
