     @kirby like every other person alive I have 0 understanding of unix audio devices. if you just want to run something like this and see what comes out there's FIFO based clients for various protocols (like ratox for tox) where you can easily cat a file into call/file_in, same as you're legit supposed to feed `arecord` command into it

     @kirby @menherahair Technically the only difference between [electromagnetic coil] microphone and [electromagnetic coil] speaker is in sensitivity only, just as any electromagnetic motor is also a generator. Seems natural to standardize it with the direction of IO.
