@thams I put my roommates family heirloom cast iron skillet on the stove to heat dry it after I washed it and completely forgot about it. I smelled it about an hour later; it was glowing hot and flaked off every bit of the black baked on for generations and was basically brand new. She looked at me like I ran over her dog and was trying to feed it to her.
Sometimes, 'oooops' will just not do.
