   So, someone with a SURF Mastodon account who is graduating had better migrate to a community server while their account is still active, if they want to keep posting and keep their followers.

     @notclacke That's weird. Their members are better off using a separate account from the beginning (other than any required postings).

     @lnxw37j1 I hope they consider giving people a lifetime membership. Some unis like the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm offer students a lifetime email address.
     
     I still think the uni Masto has value as a place to join with zero friction and zero anxiety about choosing a server when people first dip their toes in the Fediverse.
