   There's not that much of a cost of living crisis and there's no immigration crisis... there's just a housing crisis. It's just a massive housing crisis.

   And before housing was an asset it wasn't generally that expensive. Mortgage tac deductions and politically treating housing like a rare valuable commodity has fucked up the whole world.

     Anyway, every time I talk to someone who is unhappy about migration and isn't a massive racist it's not culture or whatever people are scared shitless about, it's *housing*

     And infrastructure.

     ...Which gets me onto the topic of the world wide neglect of infrastructure in the last 50 years.

     That turns out to be a rather expensive choice we've made. We're just letting a huge amount of power infra slowly die or not building capacity to population in most of the world.

     Now people get paid to make their less powerful neighbors into the homeless and prevent new workers from entering the country. It's stupid and incredibly obvious. Tax houses, sure, don't subsidize them gaining paper value.
