   @carnage4life is it because the actual open models are good enough in most cases? and so the best product you can offer as an “LLM company” becomes “LLM as a service”, which is just an infrastructure + scaling game that bigger companies will always win?

     Amazon hiring the founders of Adept AI which raised $415M is reminiscent of Microsoft hiring the founders of Inflection AI.

     I see this as a sign that even with hundreds of millions raised, startups simply can’t keep up with the cost of competing with big tech.
