    ICYMI: I wrote about what it's like to be a member of the LAST generation that grew up offline, without the internet... plus raising a small child screen-free in 2024: https://newsletter.therealists.org/the-in-betweeners/

      The In-Betweeners
      Since my childhood, I have been an in-betweener: one foot in the digital world; one foot in the real world. I'm still doing that today, in 2024 - spending half my days completely offline. Here is what I learned from this.

      @nrdufour thank you Nicolas!

      My little one is a master builder, impressing everyone at school with the structures she makes. At the beginning I was like: no sweetie, that can't possibly hold. But now I shut my mouth because she truly makes impossible, gravity-defying structures LOL. Maybe she'll be a future architect? 😊

      @_elena Wonderful paper you wrote here. I love how kids that young are like absorbing anything possible, often not visible to us anymore.

      Something I kept from the pre-internet era is to keep doing things with my hands, building objects or alike. Even if it's something small, it's like your hands bring you back to the real world no matter what. I'm sure your little one does that naturally :)
