Is there anything more emblematic of Mount Rushmore for America?
Built on stolen land from Natives by the Fed, any promises were broken immediately.
Sculpture designed by a supporter of the Ku Klux Klan, who saw it as a way to promote hatred to Natives.
Despite protests from Natives, locals of the area, and people across the country, it continued.
Built around 4 people in America, 2 of which were slave owners, and all who hated Natives.
And all of them are seen as "Great Men of History", ignoring that only by standing on the shoulders of giants did anything good by them happen and were enacted by common people.
Funding ran out so they gave up on the full vision, and left a pile of rubble from the project right below it. Literal trash kept in a landfill because it was cheaper.
Decades later, a massive parking lot takes up most of the space reserved for it, and remains basically inaccessible to anyone who can't drive.
When the Fed tried to "make amends" by making a statue of Crazy Horse, they didn't do any research and had no idea he hated the idea of any statues being made of him, so they just gave up on building another statue yet again.
And its the only reason why anyone cares about the state beyond election day, or might ever consider wasting time visiting it.
