@sickburnbro The inherent core boomer belief your goal
as a boss is to pay people as little as possible has never been more in conflict with reality as now.

@Constantine2nd they really took home the consulting classes mantra about labor being the biggest immovable fixed cost.

@sickburnbro Protip: If you don't treat them like shit, they typically don't leave. That includes paying a decent wage and benefits even to entry level workers. Does this mean that I, as the owner, earn less in the short term? Yes. Does it mean that the company grows by cultivating actual talent? Absolutely.
Boomer greed has destroyed the SMB market just as financialization has destroyed the larger corporations. It's an endless chase for more profit at the expense of everything else - your employees, your product, your level of service, your community, and your customer base. Who can be surprised that everything's so shitty nowadays?

@PhoxFriday that's the whole "overfinancialization" - the idea in theory at least is liquidate capital in order to push it into cost saving things which then will pay back dividends.
The problem is that every single of these labor saving devices actually take much more complex and tailored labor to use, and all industries have ended up doing this so now we are in a competency crisis.
The crisis is that everyone wants competency but noone wants to pay for it.

@PhoxFriday It's hard to grasp, but you can read stuff from the 40s and 50s where guys in the midwest would be making changing to their businesses and be getting 10% profit per year doing this.

@Victor_Emmanuel @sickburnbro He's actually giving away a lot of info with that line.
Remember that back in his day, teenages worked entry level jobs for lower pay to get experience.
