   Looking over a 2021 strategy discussion a few of us had over the need to #FundTheFediverse. Actually, the ideas a few of us were batting around hold up pretty well. (cc: @bart )

     There appears to be two levels of funding (likely more?):
     1. The basic infrastructure - keeping the lights on for all the instances
     2. The new infrastructure - the new stuff we need (tools, API improvements, etc).

     #1 seems to be doing fairly well with most people (I hope?) donating monthly to their instance. But #2 is far harder (and more vague).

     Centralized funding has issues but I hope something is being considered to improve it. Has there been any progress on that front?
