   So I decided on a whim to check exactly what goth is, and surprise surprise, once again most people don’t understand goth and just attribute it to wearing black clothes and dark makeup lol. So most goth girls you see aren’t goth at all, just posers.

     @Echigo better yet they also attribute shit like that to characters who are as far away from goth shit as possible, like ryuko, just cuz she has a red highlight in her hair
     literally the only thing ryuko has in common with goth girls is her not having the best of relationships with her father, and even then, ryuko went on to avenge her father instead of being happy that nobody would scold her for pissing her life away, so even that isn't exactly something she has in common with goth girls

     @lina Literally the majority of characters people call goth aren’t even goth. Prime example is Raven from Teen Titans.

     @Echigo sometimes there isnt even a need for the characters to be goth or even look remotely, considering those crappy asuka edits and osaka edits that i kept seeing, like wow you changed hair color, put tasteless fishnets on and more tasteless hot topic-esque clothing and earrings and shit and you called her a goth girl
     i swear to God everyone who lusts after goth girls deserves to get the most milquetoast, plain, basic bitch of a girl ever

     @lina Yeah, that’s a prime example of normie internet culture taking a term and making it as generic and bare bones as possible to appeal to as many people as possible.
     
     Hot Topic girls fits a bit better, but even then I wouldn’t call them that. I just call them girls that like wearing black.
