   @ruhrscholz Many ISP-owned routers in the US also locked them down completely to be fair especially in the last 2-3 years. (see Charter Spectrum for example)

   Thank heavens that I have both a router and modem that I can control.

     Oh nice the ISP-owned Vodafone routers don't even allow custom DNS servers (neither as forward nor per DHCP option) in Germany. In other countries the option seems to be unlocked.

     To prevent user errors or to comply with censorship... one can only guess
