@lain @kaia Hidden/integrated appliances are awesome from the design aspect, but they are very expensive and hard to repair/maintain. So landlords just go for the cheapest standing appliances and not worry about the extra noise and ugliness, because they aren't living in that apartment.
Most "rich person" kitchens I've visited have everything hidden away. Only renters tend to have white free-standing appliances everywhere.
