   The App will probably work with a VPN.

   But you have to take two points into account:

   While you can edit Wikipedia without an account (in Wiki language "IP user" - a user only identified by the IP number), file upload is one of the very few actions that is only allowed for logged in users with an account. The creation of an account is easy: choose a user name and a password (email is optional, but it is the only way to recover a lost password).

   The other point to consider: Wikipedia blocks edits via all known anonymous proxys (including exit points of Tor and VPNs). As a well known and respected user, you can ask for an IP block exemption (which is given for a limited time to users from for example China, or when other exceptional circumstances occur).

   Most types of IP blocks are only against IP users. The very same IP will work for logged in users.

   If your IP is blocked and you need to create an account, you may temporarly switch to another Internet access provider (mobile instead of home connection, public hotspot, computer at workplace, ...).

     Offroader is an Android app that uploads media files to Wikipedia's media archive even if (for example in a catastrophic area) only a very slow and shaky internet connection is available and can also resume a broken upload over another connection or with another device and with minimal data usage.

     Is this a method to upload to #Wikimedia using a #VPN even without an account?

     They show #IPblock: "Your user name or IP address has been blocked." on signup 😅

     Is a respected user also qualified by off-Wikipedia track-record or does that exclusively apply to on-#Wikipedia account history (which would seem a bit like a catch-22 🤔)?
