@miki then they should explain this, clearly, earlier in the booking process, instead of going with this bait-and-switch strategy.

Also, explanation is not a justification. The fact we can understand why they are doing this does not make it okay for them to do this.

Finally, it's not our job to justify shitty money-grabs from huge companies. It's their problem.

One way this kind of crap stops is for us to raise the cost of such behaviour. That means naming and shaming them for it.

@rysiek THe non-malicious interpretation is that you will get hit by this unless their website can, positively and with certainty, determine that you're a human and not a bot run by a competitor. If you're deliberately installing software that prevents this from happening, the results speak for themselves.

THe airline industry is extremely cutthroat, and companies have a habit of scraping airline websites and posing as web browsers to sell tickets at a profit, usually with a far worse customer service. Airlines have very little choice here.

#WizzAir charges a "Service Surcharge Fee", 10EUR per person per flight.

It's silently added just before the payment screen when booking in their their app or on their website.

They claim it's "applicable to bookings made by automated systems." 👀

What does this mean in practice?

Based on some poking: you will get hit by it if you have an adblocker, use Firefox, or if you are not allowing WizzAir app to gather data from your phone (for example, because you use a privacy-enabled Android fork).
