https://www.foxnews.com/us/florida-sniper-shoots-kills-bank-robber-holding-hostages-through-computer-monitor-video this is absolutely wild to me, based on the video it seems that the cops had this sniper basically set up right next to the negotiator while the suspect had a knife to someone's throat and just hoped the suspect wouldn't notice the person aiming at them right next to the negotiator????????? i guess it worked but god damn. thank god i'm not the person having to have a cop snipe someone that has me in a headlock but also that the robber didn't notice them taking aim the entire time they had a knife to my throat....
@thendrix@social.hendrixgames.com you should watch it, it's wild. also obligatorynegotiator: "[...] I want to help you with that. 100%. Come on [Suspect name], what's going through your head?" sniper: immediately headshots suspect
I didn't watch the video, but I read the TL;DR that they shot into a monitor hoping it wouldn't fragment... so I wonder what type they used.
BTW Atlanta TV news during that bus chase yesterday ( after the downtown shooting ) noted it's legal to take out hostages driving vehicles as ruled by our federal courts.
I know right? What kind of ammo did they use? Normally SWAT uses those nlyon in-fills, but for shooting into something with a possible steel plate you'd want over pen.
@thendrix@social.hendrixgames.com they said they used 308 because of the known ballistics profile, 6.5 sneedmore hypebeast ar users on suicide watch (jk not that it mattered much, it was like a shot at like 20 yards at best through some plastic monitor)
@thendrix@social.hendrixgames.com they are legally binding here :pensivecry: i swear i've posted this exact post before with you, talking about legally binding no gun signs on sc waffle houses
I can see it now.. Bubba pulling out the plastic ammo can with a thin blue line flag decal half falling off. Thick fingers darting and rooting around "for a good one" in the haphazard sea of slightly corroded brass.
