     @JackTheCat A while back, I worked for a local authority. We kept a note of sad pointy politician photos. It's a genre of photography in its own right. There's also the subgenre, which is sad children photos for when the swings are broken. Clearly, there is absolutely no relationship between budgets set by politicians and broken things they are outraged about.

     @JackTheCat years ago the councillors in Aberdeen decided to reduce grass cutting from 16 cuts a year to 3 and to only cut back shrubs every 3 years instead of annually. No one could possibly have predicted the outcome, but the number of photos of councillors pointing at overgrown vegetation seemed to indicate their sympathy with residents who couldn't get in their front doors.
