   There are people in the RLM video explaining the awful, awful experiences they have had with audiences at the movie theater. And there are people telling them they are lying. I understand if you had good luck and haven't experienced this but it's crazy to just say that everybody is making up stories about theaters sucking for...why would they do that again?

     @sun@shitposter.world @Nudhul@shitposter.world especially the last couple years. I saw shit constantly like people watching tiktok when they get bored, just talking and being obnoxious the whole time. I stopped going a while ago cause of costs and the crowds.

     @sun @Nudhul I was thinking about how kids are stereotyped as awful in a movie theater, but all my negative experiences were because of adults. It could be explained since I don't go watch babby movies, but still.
     
     Some types I've noticed are smarmy dudes who think that everyone needs to hear their hilarious commentary on everything happening, and women who go AWWWW or make similar noises at everything. I haven't been to a theater in years, but I imagine it's more common to see people on their phones now too.

     @sun the internet aggressively homogenized mass culture to the point where people have difficulty believing that other people have different experiences. If you're not aware you live and socialize in a filter bubble, your only options are "the world is not like what I think it is" or "that person is lying", the latter being a lot easier to rationalize.

     Side note, I suspect it's genre and location dependent. I've started going to theaters a bit again after not going for decades (too loud for my damaged hearing) and have noticed the experience is wildly different depending on if the theater is in a nicer area or not and what genre film. The worst so far? "Evil Dead Rise" at a theater in an upper middle class area. Lotta people talking and taking videos of the movie while it was playing, lotta kids clearly underage and not ready/prepared for the movie and reacting badly because of it.

     @sun Anime movies, especially on weekdays, have a low turnout so there's rarely a bad time
