Browsing a couple of stories on the Recall train wreck, and I literally can’t get past the Microsoft fanboys.
What sort of person gets all excited and passionate about Microsoft and its products?

In short, if Windows fanboys do indeed exist, then they seem to be pretty rare.
And pretty weird, and not in a good way.
But Windows? I’ve spent the past 20 years with computer people, and I haven’t met a single Microsoft fanboy in person. Not one.
Many people use Windows because it’s what happens to be installed on their computer. Because they don’t have the authority to change it, or lack the skill, or simply have better things to do than fiddling with operating systems.
But excited? About Windows? Never.
I can understand why people get excited about Linux or *BSD. Infinite freedom, infinite possibilities, and a learning curve that never ends and loads you up with sunk efforts over time. Anyway, great fun!
I can understand why people get excited about MacOS. It’s shiny, oh so shiny. And it has a past that was apparently better than its present, and that still generates loyalty. It has a lot of the technical advantages of Linux / BSD, and instead of freedom, it has Veblen goods. Fine!
