     @LALegault I am afraid that Gantz leaving the cabinet this weekend and the consequent shift in power towards the Kahanists make it less likely.

     And the hostage rescue may make the hawks feel like 20 or so more missions like that would make sure there are no more (live) hostages in Gaza, at a cost of five or six thousand more Palestinian civilian lives and 50 or 60 more hostages.

     But I want to hope.

     I am looking for the catch to this #ceasefire deal. Israel is the wild card but Biden seems determined to just run over Israel’s objections and claim they accept. Can it be true? Could this be ending? I hope so 3/3 #Gaza

     @steve_zeke @LALegault It's some Inflation-Reduction-Act-style marketing that doesn't seem to be fooling anyone, but keeps everyone who cares satisfied that the good guys are being credited and the bad guys are getting chastised.

     Like you, I am cautiously optimistic. I think it is disingenuous for the US to call this an Israeli proposal and to imply that Hamas is the party that needs to get onboard. But if it gets to a permanent ceasefire and complete withdrawal, then, sure, go ahead and take the win, Joe.

     I wish someone would point out how this is any different than the May 6 proposal that #Hamas already agreed to and #Israel rejected (and then intensified its attack on Rafah).
