@hj@lain@coolboymew@mangeurdenuage I used to watch his vids a couple years back but lost interest it's mostly him circlejerking and making a plug for himself. Look at me I'm le famous e-celeb because I worked for Wayforward and handled a port of Shantae and has been riding those coattails like it makes him an authority on anything since.
@gonnefishin@coolboymew@mangeurdenuage@ooignignoktoo bandits and scoundrels will always steal from you, so copyright will not go away for a long time. the way out is not to debate with them were our 'rights' lie, but to force them to admit their defeat against reality, which is total informational freedom at all times, by whatever mechanism is available
@lain@coolboymew@mangeurdenuage@ooignignoktoo I don't think you're taking into account current legal cases against archive.org or other preservation sites. The magnet links I can't argue over but there's a real non-zero chance the internet archive dies in the next four years.
@ooignignoktoo@lain@coolboymew@mangeurdenuage >hello guys here's an unsolicited opinion on a shit topic that is literally doesn't matter but i'm gonna sound annoyed and serious about it like it actually matters - stop having "console wars", from developer perspective developer want to develop for console and take advantage of console's quirks now start i mean stop flinging shit how ps5 has adaptive triggers and fast ssd nobody gives a single shit about, anyway that's it for today because if I bring up publishing and exclusivity deals or bring up PC at all it would invalidate anything I just pulled out of my ass, and i'll see you in the next video where i will lie into the camera about playing and loving Raid: Shadow Legends and never mention it ever again.
>hello guys here's another video about garbage port of some PC game to a shitty console that's nowhere nearly as powerful, anyway i'm running out of actually good topics like history of how some console got hacked so check this port of Doom Eternal onto GameBoy Color. It's impressive that they were so greedy to do this to begin with and even though they had to cut out 99.999% of the game i still think it's very impressive and deserves respect.
@mangeurdenuage You know, I wasn't entirely aware of the 3 Year DMCA exemption clause, and I should be glad that such a clause exists- but it infuriates me because I know the IA guys had to fight tooth and fucking nail for something as middling as 3 years. I've been pretty tuned into the incredible amount of lawsuits and legal battles they've been dealing with over the years. @lain Tying this into a reply to your response, yes; I completely agree that the only way to even win this sort of fight is to do nothing but force them to understand the reality that they will never stomp piracy out, whether it be perceived "piracy" from preservationists or people maliciously pirating current day releases. That's also not even a lie, they just can't stop that from happening.
I believe one of the only reasons some corporations(nintendo specifically here) even fight that hard is because of some arbitrary rulebook that copyright laws have forced them into ie the whole tired "they have to fight this or else they risk their IP" shit. Which is retarded tbh
@gonnefishin@lain >I wasn't entirely aware of the 3 Year DMCA exemption clause Me neither. Aside ass laws, my issue with "copyright" protection is that DRM are getting more invasive to the point in the near future I believe intel will extend their integrated proprietary CPU AI to start detecting if people are actually executing legal copies. Which could become defacto in all cpus.
