     @shonin I essentially agree. The founders were terrified of the people and the political pressure they could exert in a democracy. Turns out they might have been on to something regardless of how this entire shit show turns out in the fall.

     @WarnerCrocker The Constitution could not of course cover every contingency so left it up to the "league of gentlemen (sic)" to sort things out, much as the Talmud covers for the Torah on use cases. When someone grabs the ball and sits on it, Congress is supposed to make law to address that.
