   reminds me that in communist East Germany they fixed up streets and buildings the general secretary passed on regular trips to avoid him seeing anything that did not match his preconceptions of a superior GDR.

     @kaia Same with Ceaușescu. There is also a myth that a new "Economic Police" was made over night because he walked outside Disneyland and saw that the markets where empty.
