  Even all the privacy and security issue aside, Microsoft Recall has to be the worst indictment of software engineering as a discipline I've seen in a while. Almost all text on your screen starts out as... text in memory. As in Unicode. And yet, apparently they're rendering that text into a raster image, copying back that raster image, and running it through some kind of ML and OCR, to end up with the same text in memory with some probability. This should have been an API.
