The Biden era is less fraught. But the drop-off in news readership/viewership was driven in large part because people thought they didn’t have to worry quite as much about the new terrible thing that was going to happen at any moment."

     @leahawasser @joshtpm I know what you mean. I honestly really *like* a lot of the stuff Biden has done domestically (and some but definitely not all foreign policy), but I understand this sentiment.

     I mean, we're basically all trained at this point for clicks, engagement, excitement, dopamine hits ... and it's hard to say that won't cross over into this.

     @powersoffour @joshtpm this is such a good point - one of my big worries is that people will opt to not vote at all because they don't like either candidate. it's really hard / stressful when we feel like we are picking the person who is "the best of two not so great options" if you know what i mean? picking the least dangerous person? is that a way to vote? what does that say about our political system?
