Pete Zaitcev (zaitcev@shitposter.world)'s status on Thursday, 06-Jun-2024 04:56:47 JST Pete Zaitcev A guy in his late 90s from Dagestan, Russia, tried to volunteer for the war in Ukraine. The commissar of draft declined him, because he's over-age. He appealed to the minister of defense (Shoigu back then), but was rejected. Well, duh.
But when he turned 100, he's been awarded a Hero medal for his service in WW2 (he was an infantryman). Putin presented him with the award, and he complained about the rejection, saying that's he's feeling fine at 100 and can serve. Putin ordered the bureaucracy to take a look at the rules. It ended with the governor of Dagestan apologizing.
If he got killed or captured by Ukrainians, it would certainly cause a news flash. Also come on. How delusional can you be.
