   The sick cows tended to produce milk that didn’t look quite right, & had mastitis, an inflammation of the udders.

   She said, dairy workers -incl. those who were never in close contact with the sick cows -also fell ill.

   “Ppl had some classic flu-like symptoms, incl. high fever, sweating at night, chills, lower back pain & upset stomach, vomiting & diarrhea -also tended to have “pretty severe conjunctivitis & swelling of their eyelids" *never tested for #H5N1.

     #BirdFlu: Pasteurization has worked agst #H5N1. But there're many other concerns:

     Dept of AG has only confirmed infections of 33 herds in 9 states -not given any details about the ops. on which infected animals were found.

     USDA: admitted some farmers have been REFUSING TO TEST THEIR ANIMALS -analysis of the genetic sequences of viruses retrieved from cows comb. with evidence of H5N1 RNA in commercial milk found in US markets -FDA: ~1 in 5 samples tested for H5N: pos-.
