The big difference in experiences between Twitter and the Fediverse that sticks out most prominently to me right now is the lack of people discussing severe weather. Like, for the past few evenings, people's lives have been upended by powerful tornadoes and other types of severe weather, and it's happening right now. This sort of communication NEEDS to be in the commons.

xan (xan@xantronix.social)'s status on Saturday, 01-Jun-2024 07:37:56 JST xan Yeah sure there's bird.makeup (heh), but I *literally* just received several hours worth of tweets from it all at once just now, from various National Weather Service accounts, well after the information was relevant. So that's not currently a great solution.
What if we encouraged people to discuss meteorological events here to build awareness, or at least interest?
