@hipsterelectron@circumstances.run it's so fucking stupid to me that we do not treat electricity as a basic need. you are unable to do a lot of a modern lifestyle without any power. Yes we have things like gas, and other stuff that you can use without relying solely on electricity as medium for "work" but our public infrastructure does not have a giant cog we can just use to get kinetic energy lol... so it's genuinely dystopian to see when power prices are raised and when power companies prioritize business over any other customer. especially considering that a lot of people are using medical equipment at their house and battery backups (even if they have them won't last that long) are extremely expensive. Water rights are such a stupid concept because companies should not be treated as private individuals. There is a difference between someone who uses water wisely is conservative with it and a company like Nestlé who buys up water rights to use all of the water to then sell back to the same people that the water was taken from because there's no alternative.
