     A White House NSC spokesman, saying while Israel has a right to defend itself by killing Hamas terrorists responsible for attacking its citizens, that country "must take every precaution possible to protect civilians. We are actively engaging the IDF and partners on the ground to assess what happened and understand the IDF is conducting an investigation."
