And here's another thing. When I search online for discussions of leash rules in this area, a lot of what I find is dog owners discussing how to "get away with" not leashing their dogs in public areas.

"At X County Park [where I go] most of the time people won't say anything!"

Well guess WHY I don't say anything! Why I don't confront strangers! When I'm a woman alone on a forest trail. With a person or group of people who have a dog/dogs with them. Guess! 😠

(Hint: it's NOT because it's okay!)

Maybe I should memorize this phrase:

In 2021, there was one lady whose dog stayed very close to her feet the whole time, they looked like a team. It was clear she had trained the dog to heel around other people. I didn't have any problem with that dog being off leash.

BUT the fact that this stands out. This was ONE time in the past four years! Most non-leashers do not do this.

I said "Thank you!" to a guy who took his (leashed) dogs to the side when he saw me approaching. It was considerate of him.

The people I'm giving a look to, it's not because I am "scared" and need their emotional reassurance. I have that expression because I am *angry at the person*.

Reassuring me about the dog's personality when they are with you, at home, is not helpful to me and makes me angrier.

I didn't even get into the discussion of how often I find dog poop on the trails. And somehow worse, also dog poop IN the little plastic baggies, but then left on the trail. This is so common and I don't understand it. They bag the dog poop and leave it squished into the muddy trail for...who exactly??

There are prominent trash cans at EVERY parking lot for when they go back to their cars.

Obviously, I blame the humans. The dogs are generally good boys and good girls who are excited about squirrels.

📸 I might be “that guy” on rare occasions but I doubt that many other people forgot they set the poop bag down “momentarily” to get a pic of the pretty clouds
