   @terraboops in the USA it dates to the colonial era and was considered a women’s issue of the time. Ultimately segregation was more possible than fixing men so it was a practical decision but it’s worth asking if it’s still relevant in the present

     so, first of all: why are bathrooms even segregated? i get the urinal aspect, but that could easily be solved with some dividers for urinal users only.

     legislative requirements aside, the arguments people use to justify segregation of bathrooms by sex are all rooted in heteropatriarchy.

     like, if men are so horrible they cannot be trusted to be around women in private - that's a problem that needs solving. segregation only ignores it.

     for #feminizationfriday today i am gonna talk about pissing. thoughts on bathroom segregation, how i felt about it before and after starting transition, how i feel about it now, as well as some thoughts on the politics of pissing.

     i speak solely of my own experiences and my thoughts; they're imperfect and anecdotal. if your experiences don't line up with mine, that's totally chill - please share your experience! i wanna hear about it.
