     Yes, yes it is, favourites are the likes on here.

     BUT favouriting it on here doesn't drive it up any trending charts or anything, all it does is add a little star and tell the person who posted it that it's been favourited.

     Yeah, boosts have more than a symbolic effect, they cause posts to federate. They are also used by the Explore tab (the ? topics tab in the official app) to decide on trending posts.

     @DrMowinckels @feditips the way I've seen it framed is that you should boost here when you'd like the post elsewhere - because that way the post federates across instances
