In the 1970s I was told by neoliberal keepers of the true faith that their oligarch meritocracy would not allow alternative sources of power, like solar, until they could sufficiently profit from sunlight.

This was leading up to the resurgent privatization of the common good, that morphed from sporadic bursts below the radar, to full on national campaigns during the Era of Reaganomics and Thatcherism.

Here we have a monologue where perfectly valid scientific progress appears virtually inconceivable outside the paradigm of oligarchic privatization.
