    @vriesk @project1enigma @akareilly

    Your screen reader choices are basically Orca + either eSpeak voices (which grate on me in sensory terms but can managed to repeat letter input and are the default on install) or Orca + Piper voices (sounds significantly better, great for reading passages, but you cannot command line with it.) Orca now works on Wayland (or specifically, Wayfire, at least -I can't speak to other compositors)

    I'm not an every day screen reader user, but my eyes sometimes become non-usable, at which point I'll need one at short notice.

      @project1enigma @akareilly No, sure, that's totally different aspect. Of that, I have no idea.

      @vriesk @akareilly xmonad works well enough for me in terms of nearly no mouse. But I don't think that implies screen reader/braille accessibility.

      @akareilly Back in the days, some window managers (like `awesome`) could be scripted (and some scripts were readily available to download) to make an (almost) mouseless experience.

      But that was 15 years ago last time I checked, and then they got harder and harder to integrate to the everbloating GNOME/KDE ecosystem.

      How is it now these days?

      Before you select Linux, spend a day trying to get simple tasks done without a mouse.
      Try Linux with speech to text.
      Try Linux with a screen reader.

      Frustrated? Either pick up some issues from an open source accessibility project or give them money.

      ...and stop being an ass to disabled people.

      Oh sorry, *GNU/ass*
