     @romin posts saying something like "I was told it would be bad and it wasn't so here's how I did it" but I think the conclusion it was better to have not done it is realized long after you start.
     
     I had a good experience for a number of years doing it but by the end it was constant work.

     @romin I can't think of any other common thing that people want to self host that ends up being so much of a problem and it's fundamental to email because of the design and expectations.
     
     incidentally I don't think we've seen even the beginning of spam on Fediverse, one day it will be unbearable
