social media as a "luxury" good is like the internet as "luxury" good.
maybe twenty years ago you had an argument, but today social media acts as a central place of communication, socialization, and organization for people of every class and origin.
treating social media as something that is a "luxury" good - a concept that shouldn't exist in the first place imo - is just blind to the reality and giving people the option between pay or be tracked is not an option for those less well off.
anyone who wants to treat the internet and social media as a "luxury" good is an elitist cunt that has gone blind to reality
