2/3 I'm wondering what it is about Japanese culture that has #FolkMemories of #DestructionInWar continuing to be referenced and shared?

These references aren't confine to #HowlsMovingCastle, #Fireflies, another #StudioGhibili film, also features as the basic situation the destruction and famine conditions caused by war.

Are things are different in your locality? Does your geographic community pass on memories of what happened to #CiviliansInWartime?
We just remember veterans here I think.

Saw the #FireBombing of cities, a #TerrorIst activity of #TheAllies during #WWII used against #Civilians in cities such as #Dresden and #Tokyo, featuring in the #StudioGhibli movie #HowlsMovingCastle.

I saw nothing in the movie that reference the dropping of the #AtomicBomb on both #Hiroshima and #Nagasaki.

But I can't think of any other movie of the last 40 years that references the mass bombing of multiple cities in wartime.
#TheSimpsons for example goes nowhere near it.

I understand that there is a lot of emotion around wars and the aftermaths.
If you would share more about what still remains to be resolved I'd like to learn more.

I've got a candidate for a big conflict that needs to be won, where winning would produce significant international recognition: #ClimateChange

I'm not sure how leading a global win there would match with what the Japanese feel they need.

      >Japan was resurgent in the 1980s and then was crushed again and experienced the lost decade(s).

      >"You can have your bases here but there's going to be our electronics in every home in your nation." Even that was crushed.

Hey, really interesting posts. If you could elaborate that, I’d really appreciate it. I’ve always assumed it was part of a common pattern: booming economies lose their cheap labour factor over time. What happened actually? And how was it perceived there?
