Yes. I teach college, and I always bristle when I catch someone (including myself) calling my students “kids.”
There are no kids in my classes. They’re all adults. Inexperienced adults, yes. But adults.
Thank you for the gift link!
This is infuriating. Absolutely infuriating.
Calling the "children" such idiots that they don't understand what is happening is absolutely crazy and insulting. Those "children" would be charged as adults and can purchase weapons.
Infuriating

I think I understand. And no shame for those of us of a certain age using the word “kids” in general if it’s with a note of being figurative or humorous. But for someone in my position — or in any position of exercising power over college students — that habit becomes actively dangerous, and I try to weed it out.
Well, I think "kids" is okay when you're old, like me, and referring to just about anyone 27 and younger. LoL.
But these guys aren't distinguishing difference in age. They're trying to put forth the idea that these young adults can't possibly fathom that apartheid and genocide are bad.
You're not using "kids" as something derogatory.
I hope I said that well enough. I don't always communicate my thoughts well.
