     IQ is a tool used to gatekeep thought, no different than any other appeal to authority. That isn't to say that IQ isn't valid, because it is extremely so. But the internet would have you believe that every self important talking head is a genius. There are fewer than 1 million people in the US with a 3+ standard deviation IQ. Fewer than 23,000 with a 4 std dev one. And it's probably worse because of how many brown people have increased the US population in the past 20 years.
     
     They aren't all on twitter posting pseudo-intellectual drivel for mouth breathers to goon to.
