@arcana @piggo I used to have a record player but I basically had one my entire life from the 1980s until I moved here, nothing particularly special about it. still had records from my childhood that were worn completely smooth. There is nothing like holding the record in your hand and looking at the art and flipping it over, reading liner notes, it's really great feeling. the sound even feels good I just won't say by any measurable thing it is better but I think the record adds a bit of pink noise that makes it pleasurable like listening to a fireplace.

@arcana @piggo incidentally, periodically there is work done on making a consumer record player that uses a laser or some other kind of energy to read a record non-destructively, but it never seems to make it to market.

@sun I never owned my own record player. First I used my parents', then I used my brother's. After that, I haven't had access to vinyl records anyway, so I have rarely even thought about them.
