     @Meemoo If Mojang would sit down and optimize the game and make it perform similarly to 1.12.2 that'd be great.
     But we know Mojang and Microsoft aren't interested in that and them doing that will likely never happen.

     @poopernova @Meemoo @SamBox9029 You mean decompilation efforts? OptiFine is an entirely separate client. I don't really know about sodium though.
     
     OptiFine changes critical parts of the game, that's not something you can do with just modding apis

     @kirby @Meemoo @SamBox9029 I'm referring to the mods, Optifine and Sodium, which afaik were developed without access to Minecraft's source code, just third-party modding apis

     @kirby @Meemoo @SamBox9029 Yeah, Sodium is much better than Optifine, it's more efficient, and it's more compatible with other mods, it's also open source so while Sodium is officially only on Fabric, there's a Forge fork of it as well.

     They also removed multiple mentions of him from the game itself.
