   Loved what @cassidoo says here about human curation — it’s a vital part of discovery and inspiration on the web. As she mentions, we’ve been doing it on @glitchdotcom from the start (including experiments with things like print zines) but it’s a big part of what we’re focusing on in the new version of Glitch that we’re previewing now.      @jessamyn @anildash there is a whole other side-car (clown-car?) discussion about whether or not a limit on the number of photos in a gallery is meaningful / but the motivation behind the “galleries” project at flickr was to explicitly try and push back against the fetishization and dysfunction of the “explore” and “interestingness” algorithms / and demonstrate to people that their understanding of the site was better than robot-eyes or math / https://blog.flickr.net/en/2009/09/14/galleries-unleash-your-inner-curator/ and https://www.aaronland.info/weblog/2010/04/05/milkshake/#buckets

     As people say a lot to me "Look sort-by-date is still an algo but it's a transparent one" I wish we had even more inroads to the nearly twenty-five years of content on MeFi, but not at the expense of the site's current transparency.
