Correct. And in the 1860s, there was a border dispute between the two states. Massachusetts received Somerset and Fall River, while Rhode Island got half of Seekonk, which today is named East Providence. -

I was watching Antiques Road Show and a woman brought in an 1857 map of Providence - the Seekonk river runs through it.
