   honestly the weirdest thing about having gotten older (and maybe more burned out) is that now I get way more joy from doing things like infrastructure and management and documentation and cleanup than I do from just Making Things

   like suddenly “have a cool project be admired by others” sounds exhausting, but “providing an environment where other people can shine and accomplish their dreams because they actually have a good support and. mentoring system” sounds like the most perfect place to be

     (at the end of the day this is way more selfish than it sounds; it lets me be part of “solving cool problems” and participating grand visions without like… having to fight a bunch of differing FOSS opinions to get pull requests merged)

     I need help finding the quote and who said it, but this doctor who created the modern practice of medical helicopter transport for trauma victims in the US said something like “as a doctor I can save maybe hundreds of lives in my career. By building a system I could save hundreds of thousands”
