So I think I've settled on a really good audio workflow for Linux even though I already have the same on Windows.
All of these have Linux binaries available,
Renoise - DAW
Vital & Helm - Very powerful synths
TAL-Sampler - Plugin that emulate the sound and workflow of a classic AKAI sampler
fircomp2 - very nice compressor, sidechain plugin
With this anyone could make amazing EDM or indie music. If I could get real hardware like the AKAI S1000 to interface with Renoise in Linux that would even be cooler. I wonder if it's just a MIDI thing anyways...

There are some decent small 25 keys that are alright for writing.
I won an ableton push (first version). I have a plugin that allows me to use it for standard midi. It's very nice for sequencing.

Ardour ui is kinda shit tbh. I really hate the fact that they didn't put the piano roll in a separate container. It makes its a real pain to work with midi.

Ardour is interesting. Not a fan of the UI. Renoise is a music tracker on GIGA steroids.

I prefer ardour for the daw if I'm using Linux to record. But 8 also do very limited midi (drums and keys at most). I tend to want to play any instrument that I want to use in a recording 😅
