was gonna make this a reply to another post as an example, but opted to just make a post about it instead.

i got into a smol discussion with my mom about public school & provided lunches.

“why should we offer free lunches to all kids? what if a rich person can afford to pay for it, does that mean they should eat for free too?”

…yes? yes, they absolutely should have a free lunch as well. the whole point of giving kids free lunches isn’t to give “poor kids a handout”, it’s to give children who waste 8 hours in a building they’d rather not be in something to choke on between being shoved in a locker, and learning from the weird friend on the playground that you pee in a girl’s belly button to make babies.
